Canticorum is a small chamber choir based in South East Cornwall.
The choir was formed in Autumn 1999. The original concept was the simple idea of a small chamber choir able to perform in a variety of settings, bringing a wide range of music to local communities. This has generally been achieved, with the choir tackling some very interesting and challenging music along with more well known and loved old favourites.
We have performed in many different venues: a number of churches in our local area, including Callington church, Tavistock Catholic church and Tavistock Parish church of St Eustachius. We have also pertformed in Truro Cathedral, Mt Edgcumbe House, the Eden Project and the Tregenna Castle Hotel in St Ives.
Other favourite venues have been Brentor Church, the highest parish church in England, the Great Hall at Cotehele House (National Trust) and Endsleigh hotel where we perform regularly as part of our Christmas programme. We have been regular participants in the 'Tavistock Sings' music festival and Callington's Mayfest.
In recent years we have linked with a choir from Barsbuttel (a twin town of Callington) near Hamburg in Germany. We have each visited each other’s home towns and hope this will continue in the years to come.
We are happy to perform concerts for different organisations as well as other events such as weddings.
The choir rehearses regularly at Dupath in Callington.
